Summer of Service
Summer of Service (S.O.S.) is a life-changing experience that we are excited to offer for VT Student Ministry students. This event is a three day, two night local mission trip and celebration of what God can do when God's heart becomes our heart. Throughout the weekend, your student will be the hands of feet of Jesus in Michiana. By doing service projects, washing cars, and many other project, your student will be able to serve the community, along side 650 other students!
It is our desire for every student to be able to come to this event; therefore, we have two pieces of information that you need to know. The first piece (below) gives the basic information in regards to the trip. The second piece is a parent information packet that must be downloaded and filled out in order to participate on this trip.
*New Scholarship Opportunity
We are excited to announce that we have partnered with Point of Light Ministries (the ministry that owns the Oaks at SouthPaw Farms where we had the winter retreat). They run an Upward Soccer program during the spring, and they are in need of referees (no experience is needed and the rules will be given to each student) and concession stand workers (gender does not matter for either position).
The soccer games are every Saturday between April 18 and May 30, and there are two games each day, 9:00 am. and 10:30 am. The games last one hour, and there is a 30 minute break between the games. Concession stand workers and referees need to be at the fields 15–20 minutes before the game begins.
For concession stand workers, the payment is $5 per game or $10 per day. Only three concession stand workers work at a time.
For referees, the payment is $10 per game or $25 per day. The referees are as needed with up to seven referees per week.
*The payment for these will be made out to the individual student/worker unless otherwise noted.
If you or your student is interested, please contact Sharon Nafrady, President of Point of Light Ministries, at firstname.lastname@example.org. When you e-mail her, please leave a call back number as well.
