What does it mean to follow Jesus?
Does it mean that we are supposed to let our good works outweigh our bad? Does it mean we are generally supposed to be “good people?” Following Christ means that we are called to make disciples who make disciples. Our mission as a church is essentially to impact our world for Christ. This means that we need to go out and spread the Gospel, influencing other believers, and those whom we reach, to share it as well. So how do we do this? There have been times when I’ve seen fellow believers become absolutely convicted that having passion for God meant they couldn’t have any passion for anything else in their lives; this has often meant they’ve tossed aside pursuits, possessions, and relationships for the sake of concentrating solely on Christ. While this can sound commendable and certainly scripturally justifiable from one perspective, it is often the result of a decision that is malformed, premature, and short-lived.

As Christians, we are called to go and make disciples of nations. Well, how do we do this? How can we change the viewpoint of many and make Christ a priority? How can we impact this broken world for Christ?
We do it one life at a time! by Cassidy Cripe Even though lent is not something regularly practice by Protestants, I decided to participate this year! While I cannot say that I am completely participating in Lent (because I am not giving up meat on Friday’s or participating in the traditional fashion), I chose to give up something for 40 days. Many people do lent “just because,” but I wanted to do it so that I can grow closer to God—to spend more time with Him while learning to rely on Him wholly, rather than the material things this world offers.

Ephesians 2:8-9 reads: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
So what does true faith look like? True faith is more than just words, it is shown through our actions as well. Real faith changes us. It changes how we act, how we live, and what we say. |
